Release International Christian Church is a Christian church in Calgary committed to worship, prayer, discipleship, strengthening families, and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Who We Are

Our Story of Growth in Canada

Release International Christian Church – Calgary, Alberta began in September 2017 under the leadership of Rev. Byishimo Mpimuye.

The church started humbly with only fifteen (15) people, who gathered for their first worship service in the home of one of the members. As the group continued to worship, pray, study God’s Word, and invite others, the fellowship began to grow.

Because the house could no longer accommodate the growing congregation, the church moved to a community centre. About three months later, the congregation moved to its current worship location at: 4215 11 St NE Calgary, AB T2E 6K4

By God’s grace, the church has continued to grow and serve the Calgary community. Today, Release International Christian Church has 120 baptized members and approximately 116 children who have not yet been baptized. From a small gathering of 15 believers in a home to a growing congregation of more than 233 adults and children, the story of Release International Christian Church is a testimony of God’s faithfulness, spiritual growth, and the power of the Gospel to build a community of believers.

The church remains committed to making disciples, strengthening families, reaching the community, and raising the next generation to know and serve Jesus Christ.

Release International Christian Church envisions people from every nation and language fully released from the bondage of evil, transformed in every aspect of life, and establishing the Kingdom of Heaven within their communities, nurtured through the church.

Our Beliefs

Faith Statement

God

There is only one true and living God, the Maker of heavens and earth and all they contain; fully perfect in His being and attributes; and Him alone is to receive honor and glory from all His creatures.

The Trinity

God exists in three persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit; and these three are all One true and living God, the same in essence, equal in power and glory, each with different roles.

Scriptures

The Holy Scriptures of both the Old and New Testaments are the only Word of God; they are thus inspired, inerrant, and infallible, and they are the only authoritative rule of faith and practice.

The Fall of Man

All human beings, having descended from Adam, have participated in his sin; thus, they are all lost in sin and totally unable to save themselves.

The Mediator

God has appointed His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, to be the mediator between God and man; and though fully God, He willingly became man. Unlike sinful man, He lived a perfect and sinless life. He suffered, was crucified, and died for the salvation of sinners. After three days, He rose from the dead and ascended into heaven, and He is now seated at the right hand of the Father, interceding for His people.

Regeneration

Regeneration is the supernatural work of God’s free and special grace whereby the Holy Spirit changes the heart of the sinner from the state of deadness and gives him life through the proclamation of the Gospel of grace.

Repentance

Repentance is the work of God’s grace whereby the Holy Spirit convicts the sinner of his sin, so that he sorrowfully hates it and turns to God wholly by living to please Him alone.

Justification

Justification is the gracious work of God in which He forgives sinners and clothes them with the righteousness of Jesus Christ. It is not because of what they have done, but entirely because of what Christ has done for them, which they receive by faith alone.

Justifying Faith

Justifying or saving faith is a saving grace that the Holy Spirit creates in the sinner’s heart through the hearing of God’s Word so that he can trust Christ alone and His finished redemptive work for his eternal life.

Sanctification

Sanctification is a gracious work of God whereby those who have been regenerated or born again are sanctified by God’s Word and His Spirit living in them, so that they will become more and more like Christ.

Perseverance of the Saints

Those who genuinely believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior are not only saved, but they are also sons and daughters of God. God preserves them, and consequently, they will persevere to the end.

The Sovereign God

It was only out of His love, mercy, and grace that the sovereign God chose sinners from every nation and tribe and granted them life through the power of the Holy Spirit and the redeeming blood of Jesus Christ. It is for this reason that we boldly and confidently proclaim the Gospel because we are sure that the sovereign God, to whom belong all power and authority, will eventually bring other sheep that are still scattered in the world.

Salvation

Salvation is by God’s grace, through faith alone, in Christ alone; and those who are saved have been called to live in holiness and do good works, all for the glory of God.

The Return of Jesus Christ

Christ will come back to earth to culminate history and the eternal plan of God; He will usher the righteous into eternal life, and the wicked into eternal punishment.

Our Senior Pastor

Meet Rev. Byishimo Mpimuye

Rev. Byishimo Mpimuye

Rev. Byishimo Mpimuye is the Founder and Senior Pastor of Release International Christian Church in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. His ministry journey has been deeply shaped by prayer, fasting, worship, evangelism, and a desire to see people transformed through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

After coming to faith in the Lord, Rev. Byishimo became actively involved in intensive prayer and fasting. In 2004, he was baptized in the Holy Spirit, an experience that further strengthened his commitment to prayer and Christian ministry. Having previously received baptism by sprinkling in the Catholic Church, he was later baptized by immersion in 2006 after joining the Pentecostal church.

In 2009, Rev. Byishimo moved to Kenya, where he joined Release International Mission (RIM). He faithfully served the ministry as an intercessor, worship leader, and evangelist, participating actively in prayer, worship, and outreach.

Recognizing God’s calling upon his life, Release International Mission ordained him as an Evangelist in 2014. In 2016, he was ordained as a Pastor and subsequently served as Assistant Pastor at RIM Mihang’o Church in Nairobi, Kenya.

On July 20, 2017, Rev. Byishimo moved to Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Within a few months, in September 2017, he and a small group of believers began Release International Christian Church Calgary. The first gathering consisted of only 15 people meeting in a member’s home.

As the congregation grew, the church moved from the home to a community centre and, approximately three months later, relocated to its current worship location at 4215 11 St NE, Calgary, AB T2E 6K4.

Today, Rev. Byishimo continues to serve as the church’s Founder and Senior Pastor. Under his leadership, the congregation has grown to include 120 baptized members and approximately 116 children.

Rev. Byishimo’s ministry continues to reflect the foundations that shaped his calling: prayer, fasting, dependence on the Holy Spirit, worship, evangelism, discipleship, and faithful service to God. His desire is to see believers grow into mature disciples of Jesus Christ, families strengthened, children raised in the faith, and the church equipped to reach Calgary and beyond with the Gospel.
