Community Outreach Ministry in Calgary
In Release International Mission (RIM), community outreach means going beyond church services to build relationships with neighbors, understand their needs, and serve them in ways that reflect Christ’s love. It connects RIM’s mission to make disciples, plant churches, care for people, and care for the environment.

Listening first
Meeting residents, local leaders, schools, and other churches to learn what the community needs and what strengths it already has.
Serving families
Offering mentoring for youth, family support, practical assistance, and referrals to appropriate services.
Sharing faith through relationships
Prayer, hospitality, Bible study, and invitations to church, while respecting people’s choices.
Working with local partners
Helping immigrant and host congregations serve their shared neighborhood together.
Building lasting capacity
Training local volunteers and leaders so the work continues within the community.
Caring for the local environment
Organizing practical efforts such as cleanup, gardening, or other projects the neighborhood identifies as useful.
For RIM, a good outreach effort should answer three questions: Who are our neighbors? What matters to them? What can we do together that will make a lasting difference?
